Homemade blackcurrant leaf juice

I just love making this lovely tangy summer drink, blackcurrant leaf juice. Try it!

På en sliten trästol står en kanna rosaröd lemonad mitt i en grönskande trädgård.
Ingredients:
  • 9 cups (around 2 liters) of blackcurrant leaves
  • 3 thinly sliced lemons
  • 9 cups (around 2 liters) water
  • 9 cups (around 2 liters) sugar
  • 2 ounces (around 60 g) citric acid

It's time to make homemade blackcurrant juice! This is a slightly less sweet fruit juice with a nice tangy flavor, made from the blackcurrant leaves.

Instructions:

Put blackcurrant leaves and lemon in a mixing bowl that you can fit in your refrigerator.
Bring the water to a boil and add sugar and citric acid.
Pour the mix over the blackcurrant leaves and lemon.
Cover with plastic wrap and keep chilled for five days.
Pour the blackcurrant leaf juice through a sieve and put it in bottles or jars.

The blackcurrant leaf juice stays fresh for a while in the refrigerator, but I usually freeze some of it. Try freezing the juice in jars that you can put in the dishwasher later.
