Creamy spinach stew
This delicious savory spinach stew is the perfect side to so many dishes.
Ingredients
- spinach, whole leaves
- cream
- salt
- pepper
- nutmeg
I grow a lot of spinach in my kitchen garden, and I always need to figure out new ways to cook it. Making spinach stew is a really great way to use the excess spinach in your garden. I often freeze parboiled spinach that I can just fish out whenever I want to make some for a quick lunch.
Instructions:
Rinse the spinach and put it in boiling water for a few minutes. This is called parboiling.
Pour the water out after around 2 minutes.
Heat a frying pan and saute the spinach in butter.
Add enough cream to cover the spinach and let simmer for a few minutes. Stir now and then.
Season with herbs and spices of your choice.
Spinach stew tastes great with fish, chicken or scrambled eggs. Enjoy!
